I know of at least one person that is reading this that had one of these. What an awesome game! I used to play this for hours at my grandma's house. How can such a simple game be so fun? The defense had amazing AI, they would intercept passes, and occasionally stop the run. But with a little practice I got pretty good at running the 4 screen lengths to score a touchdown and hear the little song that will forever be ingrained in my memory. I wonder why Mattel didn't stay in the video game industry, they had such a big hit for a few months.

They just don't make games like they used to

I literally lost my breath when I saw that picture. I love that game. It's one of the greatest video games ever made. I remember playing for hours and running up the score for both teams. The best part was when there wasn't a hole to run through, all you had to do was back up and just wait a few seconds and something would open up. I actually still have the game in my basement and have replaced the battery several times to make it work but it doesn't. You can buy the new version of it online but it's new and I'm betting they tried to "improve" it someway. Perfection doesn't need improvement. That's what I always tell my bishop.
